Bloco
em FoCo in association with Marcus Santos,
an Afro-Brazilian Drum Ensemble in Northern Colorado
“Bloco
em FoCo” will be under the creative direction
of Marcus Santos, a widely respected Brazilian percussionist
living in Boston. Marcus was one of the drum leaders
at last summer's “Symphony for 1000 drums” in Fort
Collins to honor the 50th anniversary of the Peace
Corps, and he directs several drum groups in the Boston
area. He will travel to Fort Collins periodically
to train and rehearse with us,
and we will back him this July at an event sponsored
by Beet Street: Samba for 1000 Drums!

He is also affiliated with www.afrobrazil.org, an
organization that he co-founded and of which he is
the artistic director. Their mission is to promote
Afro-Brazilian music and culture in the US. There
are several video and audio clips on the site that
are worth a look/listen.
