QUIET PRACTICING TECHNIQUE--

"Hi to everyone!

I have followed the wonderful djembe discussions for a
while and haven't seen much about practicing.

One technique was suggested to me from an instructor
when it is important not to interrupt others. I lay a
lightweight blanket (wool, in my case) over the djembe
head and I have found that one can still easily
produce and distinguish bass, tone and slap sounds
without making a loud racket. I can practice and have
a conversation, no problem. This may be only really
useful for beginners - I don't know - but I think it
is useful when learning both handing and tone/slap
technique.

Does anyone else do this or similar? I am interested
in hearing more about different practice methods, any
ideas?
