I have found that 2 pairs of _new_ #4 or #5 Vice-Grips make fairly easy work
of verticals. Lock one set on a vertical, pull, lock the other set on the
next one, pull (in the opposite direction), release the first, and so on.
You get great leverage and no blisters, and nothing to unwrap from a
broomstick handle during or after each pull. You want new V-Grips so that
the teeth don't damage the rope. Old V-Grips with abused teeth _may_ do
that. My pulling V-Grips touch nothing but rope slated for jembes.
