Yes, I have enough for several drums. My concern and question
now involves the thickness of the wood. The mohogany that I have
is a full 1" thick and I know that this would make a very heavy drum.
I therefore intend on plaining it down a little to reduce this weight
factor. This particular wood that I have is VERY dense and heavy.

Some questions;

On thickness of the body walls;
Is starting out with 1" material too thick? I have no lathe available, and
therefore would limited to smoothing the exterior with hand tools. This
could be done with a draw knife, or power sander.

On size;
I want a drum with good tonal variety. I am thinking 18 staves of approx.
2 1/2" width each. I have drawn this out on paper, and it comes out to be
about 14" diameter head. What would be a good length for this size of head?
I am thinking 24 or 32".

>Ahhhhh jigs............wish me luck for this WRITTEN explanation!!!!

Yeah, a little hard to follow. I do feel that I can successfully make
a jig that will work.

With Love,
